Where Is Aviastar Aircraft

JAKARTA. A Twin Otter light plane, operated by Aviastar, has reportedly lost contact during a flight in South Sulawesi.

Carrying 3 crew and 10 passengers, including 2 children and a baby, the plane departed from the Andi Djemma Airport in Masamba, Luwu regency, at 2.25 p.m. to fly to Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. It was supposed to land in Makassar at 3.35 p.m.
South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Police spokesperson Kombes F Barung Mangera confirmed that the plane was missing to kompas.com.

"According to schedule, the plane should have arrived [in Makassar] at 3.35 p.m., but it still wasn't there at 6.05 p.m. The last contact made was 11 minutes from Masamba, when the plane is estimated to have been near Palopo,"

Aviastar airline confirmed officials lost contact with a Twin Otter small passenger aircraft, a spokesman confirmed.

The Indonesian airline said the aircraft was travelling between Masamba and Makassar on the island of Sulawesi.

It is understood that contact was lost 30 minutes before the plane was due to land. Ten people were on board the aircraft, Wisnu Darjono, an official at Indonesia’s flight safety agency said. He confirmed authorities had lost contact with the aircraft.

The plane went missing just several hundred miles north of the search area for MH370. Aviastar flies domestic routes. In August an Indonesian flight went missing over Papua. The Trigana Air Service jet was carrying more than 50 passengers – including five children – and five crew members.
